Navigate DISCOVER is designed for those who are unable to commit to a full-time course due to family, study or work; or who want to ‘taste and see’ whether one of the other Navigate cohorts is for them in the future.
Deep community and transformation
DISCOVER students will experience deep community and transformation through retreats, spiritual formation and regular mentoring. They will participate in Summer and Winter School plus two weekend retreats.
At a minimum, students will undertake Spiritual Formation study. However, if you have the time, and would like to engage in further theological study, we can tailor a plan to suit your interests and needs.
What You Need To Know
Gather 4 times during the year with your DISCOVER community. Included in this is Summer and Winter School along with two other weekend retreats (totalling approx. 16 days over the year). For travel practicalities as well as forming of deep community, the numbers for this course are capped at a maximum of 15 people.
In order to provide high quality and fully accredited theological education, we have partnered with the Australian College of Ministries (ACOM). You will study 1 subject with ACOM, at either Undergraduate or Postgraduate level:
- Spiritual Formation
If you wish to undertake further study, we can tailor extra subjects to suit your interest and ability. Have a chat to us to find out more!
Coursework is studied at a Bachelor level and therefore students under 21 years of age must have completed Year 12 (or similar) at a minimum. In certain circumstances, underage students may be accepted to study at a different award level. Please ask us if you don’t fit these criteria or if you are unsure and we will try and find a pathway for you.
Applications for 2019 are now closed. If you are still interested in being a part of a Navigate cohort in 2019, please give us a call on (02) 8573 6000 or email [email protected] to enquire if there’s space in any of the cohorts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work and participate in DISCOVER?
Yes! However, you will need to make time (approx. 2-3 hours per week) for your studies and you must be available for all retreats throughout the year. It might be worth checking with your employer at the beginning of the year about your time off.
How much time off work will I need?
There will be 4 retreats throughout the year, they are an important part of the program so you will need to attend all of them. We expect your retreat days to be about 16 across the year (10 of them are week-days so you may require annual leave from work).
Am I required to book accommodation or relocate for DISCOVER?
No, once you arrive at each intensive (Sydney based), all accommodation, food and transport is organised for you. DISCOVER is designed so that you can stay planted where you are, there is no need to relocate.
I haven’t studied in a while, is this ok?
Yes, that’s fine. We will teach you how to access everything you need for study online.
Can I receive HECS or FEE HELP?
Yes! Providing you are eligible, all subjects studied through ACOM can be placed on FEE HELP. Please note, there will be some expenses you will need to pay upfront including a $300 administration fee (due mid-January).
I’ve studied before, can I apply for academic credit from my previous studies?
Yes, where you have studied at the same level at an accredited institution, you may be eligible for credit. However, please note that you would still be required to be present and engaged in all parts of the program, regardless of approved credit.
Gaining confidence in living out my true identity
Something as simple as sharing and listening to our own life stories has such significance to my journey of healing and transformation in God. I realise I was closer to my true self when I was young and had wandered off into the world trying to search for meaning and who I am, but I find all that through Jesus within and the Holy Spirit guides me. Now I’m gaining confidence in being and living out my true identity.
